It is a stage performance, highlighting the diversity of Indonesia culture. From Bali, Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Papua, this show is full of state of the art stage lighting effects, impressive illusion effects, breathtaking acrobatic effects, exotic cultural dances and costumes. This Bali Activity is ensured to create the perfect evening entertainment.

About BALI NUSA DUA THEATRE


Bali Nusa Dua Theatre is a 700 Seat located in the BTDC area of Nusa Dua. It features state of the art lighting and visual equipment as well as a huge stage to showcase its main performance “DEVDAN SHOW”. The Theatre opened its doors in June 2011. One of the prefect things to do in Bali during your Bali Holidays.

How to get DEVDAN SHOW?


From hotels within Nusa Dua BTDC complex and Tanjung Benoa, there are complimentary shuttle busses every 15 minutes to the Sogo Shopping Center and The Bay. Just take one of the complimentary busses, and the theater is simply within 3 -5 minutes walk.

From Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Sanur, Jimbaran, Uluwatu, simply call the theater to arrange for a taxi/transport.  Most transports from and to this area is free, when you buy category A tickets.

CULTURE PERFORMANCE OF BALI


The show scene starts with Bali, which is symbolized by an Udeng, a boy’s headband which is used as a cultural and religion identity.  

Every Balinese temple and shrine has a dedicated date for its annual ceremony, aka “Odalan”. This ceremony is truly colorful. The shrine are dressed with brocade, woodcarvings, salangs, and gold coins. And, the villagers will march in a colorful costumes, and  the females will carry offerings on top of their heads, arrangement of all kinds of fruits, colored cakes to the Temple. And, the males will bring umbul-umbul, and take part in this festival by flying kites competition.

On this scene, we will also witness Balinese villager life that is so close to nature and farming. They will prepare penjor and offerings. The villagers will grind paddies using a Lesung. And, during harvest 
time, the villagers will carry Goddess of Uma thanking for this year harvest.

CULTURE PERFORMANCE OF SUMATRA


Sumatra villagers are mainly Moslem; and, they have a dedicated dance and singing performance, named SAMAN, after a Syekh Saman name who lives in XIV century. Saman functions as a preaching moments for honorable manner, heroism, and unity. The lyrics and poems are in both Arabic and local (Gayo)) language. This Saman dance was sung slowly at the beginning, and gradually become extreme rapid to the end. Certainly, this Saman performance is acknowledged as an intangible element of Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Of Humanity by UNESCO

Aside from Saman, Sumatra is famous of its traditional dances which use Pecut (whip) as a traditional tool to whip the animals (cows and horses).

Sumatra is also famous for its  Songket weaving cloth. Since 7th century, Songket clothes has become a precious items during Sriwijaya time in Palembang. The word Songket originates from Sungkit, that is a Malay word for weaving. All Songkets are manually made mostly by Sumatran women. Many Indians and Arabs are trading Sumatra Songket throughout the world; while Chinese has become the main suppliers of Songket materials to Sumatra villagers. Songket was once a precious and luxury clothes, and worn only by Sumatran aristocrat.

Back to today’s world, Indonesia government has now patented some intricate Songket motives as part of National Indonesia Products that is widely available in Indonesia, such as Bali, Nusa Tenggara and Sulawesi.

A Rain dance in Sumatra symbolize the villagers who pray to God for rains onto their drought land.

CULTURE PERFORMANCE OF JAVA


A trademark of Javanese villagers are the ownership of Keris. Keris is a Javanese weapon since the kingdom era throughout Indonesia. Aside from being used as a weapon, Keris is the villagers identity symbol to show the social status, macho, and spiritual/magical power. Keris is part of Indonesia Cultural Heritage that is protected by UNESCO.
Aside from Keris, a Joglo house is also identical with Javanese culture. A Joglo is a Javanese wooden house, which is built heavily based on the local’s philosophy. The show will depicts Javanese villagers from aristocrat, to Javanese soldiers and common villagers.

A shadow puppet is part of Javanese culture that is part of Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The show will depicts the mysticism and power of shadow puppet master by making few human dancers disappear when entering the shadow puppet screen.


CULTURE PERFORMANCE OF KALIMANTAN


Indonesia longest and biggest river is in Kalimantan. Thus, the villagers of Kalimantan has closely made their life and cultures evolve around this river. Back in 13th century, a Kutai Karatanegara kingdom is one of the biggest kingdom in Kalimantan. The villagers back them were heavily using ship on the rivers as their main transportation, fishing points, floating markets, and harbors. Till today, the rivers are still one of the most important transportation infrastructure used in Kalimantan.

Kalimantan is famous for its Dayak tribe and its dances. Dayak tribes wear the famous Enggang bird feather. Enggang is an eagle bird natives of Kalimantan, that is close to extinction.

CULTURE PERFORMANCE OF PAPUA


On this last scene, we will see a typical Papuan house, called Honai. This house has a cone shape roof which is made from dried hays. Some of the highlands in Papua is actually snowing, thus, this Honai will help them throughout the winter season.

Papuan is also known for wearing a Koteka. It is a male penis wear, that is made from certain dried plantation. The word “Koteka” actually means “clothes”.

Papuan dances similarly to Africans. Its always fast rhythmically, and full with leg movements.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu temple is known as a beautiful peninsula at the western end of the valley, and standing on a rocky cliff. Best scenery that can be enjoyed on the headland through the shortcut path, from the left temple to the top of the cliff.

When the Uluwatu temple is built ?


This temple was built in the 10th century and as one of the main sea temples in Bali. It is said that Nirartha Java (legend in the 16th century) helped set up the temple.

With the entrance to the temple of Uluwatu, through a long path, you will be presented scenery rocky cliffs, the sea and also a bunch of monkeys, as is believed, is the temple guards. Hold tightly to your purse, sunglasses or camera, keep it away from the hands of the hands of mischievous monkeys group.

When you walk out of the page you will see the temple briefly flanked by wing-shaped carving. This gate is one of the archaeological heritage of the 16th century. At the entrance to the central courtyard also note, curved archway guarded by a statue of Ganesha. In order to respect the temple, visitors are not allowed to enter the inner courtyard.

Another attraction of this temple is the Kecak and Fire dance also amazing sunset at Uluwatu. Expected to book in advance to get a seat, if possible 3 days before. You can also buy tickets directly at the site around USD 8/person. Live shows are usually held at 18:00 to 19:00.


Pura Uluwatu Bali is a tourist attraction located at the end of the rock, precisely on the south coast of Bali. Uluwatu temple in Bali is very sacred by Hindus. Uluwatu temple has some small temples, they are closely related to the main temple Uluwatu temple.

Pura Goa Lawah or Bats Cave Temple in the Village Pesinggahan, Dawan sub district, Klungkung regency is the center of Pura Segara in Bali to worship God as the God of the Sea.

In Papyrus Prekempa Mount Agung told Lord Shiva sent Sang Hyang Tri Murti to save this earth. Lord Brahma transformed into a Dragon called Ananta Bhoga. Lord Vishnu incarnated as a Dragon called Basuki. Lord Iswara become a Dragon called Taksaka. Basuki dragon incarnation of Lord Vishnu's head to the sea in order to move the ocean evaporates into clouds. Tail to tail scales the mountain and into the dense trees in the forest. 



Dragon Basuki head is symbolized by Pura Goa Lawah or Bats Cave Temple and tail as the towering Mount Agung. The tail center at Pura Goa Raja, one of the temples in the complex Pura Besakih. Because it was anciently cave at Pura Goa Raja is said to penetrate up to Pura Goa Lawah or Bats Cave Temple . Because there was an earthquake in 1917, the cave was being closed.

This ceremony serves as a declaration that the atman ritually consecrated family Dewa Pitara it has achieved. Nyegara Gunung ceremony was generally done in Pura Goa Lawah and Pura Besakih one of them is in Pura Goa Raja.

Due to the passage of the process of this nature will remain fertile to give life to humanity.

Ceremony at Pura Goa Lawah is to worship the Lord Tengahing Segara and Sang Hyang Basuki done every Anggara Love Medangsia. In viscera temple, precisely at the mouth of the cave are shrines General Instruction as worship Sang Hyang Tunggal. There is Meru Three Overlapping as place of lord Andakasa. There is a gedong Pelinggih Limasari as place of Dewi ( goddess ) Sri and gedong Limascatu as Place of Lord Vishnu. Two shrines here used to worship God of Sang Hyang Basuki and Lord Tengahing Segara.

Besakih temple for your next things to do in Bali. Besakih temple is the center of religious festivals for Hindus in Bali, therefore it is also called the mother temple in Bali. Besakih Temple is Bhuwana or its juice Padma world shaped lotus symbolized.
Besakih Temple is a temple complex located on the slopes of Mount Agung, which is the highest mountain in Bali, located exactly in the Besakih village, Rendang district of Karangasem regency, Bali.


How to get Besakih Temple

If you use a car or join any four wheels vehicles to the Besakih temple from the Airport will take approximately two – half hours drive to the east of Bali. Besakih temple’s area is vast, if you wish to explore more about this Besakih temple, you may have spent about 1 hour to get around in the area adjacent to the place. The attractions that located near the Besakih temple is famed site rafting, a water rafting that take place at Telaga Waja River. Including Besakih temple in your Bali Holidays plan is a must, because you will find a lot of Balinese people here wearing Hindus uniform and a lot of attraction like Barong dance, mask dance, puppet show and much more.

 

Design of Besakih Temple

Besakih Temple’s complex consists of one center is called Pura ( temple ) Penataran Agung Besakih and companion by 18 temples which is 1 Basukian temple and 17 Other  small temples. All Hindus especially in Bali, has a temple penyungsungan (praying place) called Pura Pedarman according to their dynasty, which is a heritage from generation to decline. Penataran Agung ( the greatest praying field ) is the largest temple in the complex of Besakih Temple, the temples  are much more than others, the ceremony also most in the region's Penataran Agung ( great field ). Here there are 3 main temples which are the sacred essence and symbolized the whole building in Besakih Temple. 

Padmasana-Tiga ( three ) is a symbol of God in accordance with the nature place of Tri Murti, namely Brahma the Creator god, Vishnu the Preserver god and Shiva as the fuser god. Besakih Temple comes from a very old age, because of the many megalithic relics, such as stone throne, pyramid patio structure found in the complex of Besakih Temple.

Visiting Besakih temple providing a strong spiritual feel,  completed with spread of the natural landscape of the height which make  it looks so beautiful. Especially if you get the Dark Temple occupies the top position in the temple complex.
